Dental Crowns in Chatham MA

Most dentistry looks like dentistry. Our goal is to provide dentistry that is undetectable.

A dental crown is done to restore and protect a damaged or weakened tooth. A tooth may need a crown placed for many reasons. Many crowns can be made in a single visit!

 1. Protection

  • After a root canal: The tooth becomes brittle and needs reinforcement
  • Cracked or worn-down tooth: A crown hold it together and prevents further damage

 2. Restoration

  • Large cavity: When there is not enough tooth structure left for a filling
  • Broken tooth: To rebuild its shape, strength, and function

 3. Cosmetic Improvement

  • To cover discolored, misshapen, or uneven teeth and improve appearance

 4. Support for Other Dental Work

  • Dental bridge: Crowns anchor the bridge to the surrounding teeth
  • Dental implant: The crown serves as the visible part of the new tooth

What are the capabilities of crowns?

Crowns are a very reliable solution for major dental problems caused by accidents, diseases, or wear and tear. Material used in these repairs are either high-grade porcelain, or porcelain bonded to gold.

Many people have unexplained pain from filled back teeth, which is usually due to hairline cracks in the chewing surface of the tooth. Placing crowns on these teeth relieves the pain and allows a return of full dental function. In front teeth, older fillings can both weaken the teeth and cause cosmetic problems due to staining or chipping. Porcelain crowns and bridges are suitable in more serious cases where veneers do not provide enough support. In teeth with root canal fillings, crowns can prevent breakage.
